Wilcox High School welcomes everyone to the 2024-2025 school year. Mrs. Gonzalez - PrincipalKristin Gonzalez is a product of Santa Clara Unified School District as a graduate from Buchser Middle School and Santa Clara High School. She then attended San Jose State University earning her Bachelor of Arts in Social Science with Teacher Preparation, a Minor in Women's Studies, and a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Social Science. 

She completed her student teaching here at Wilcox High School before accepting a job with San Jose Unified School District where she taught History and Student Leadership for two years before returning back to the classroom at Wilcox. 

While here, Mrs. Gonzalez taught World History and AP European History and served as Department Chair. She was also a Link Crew Coordinator and Softball Coach. She continued to further her education and enrolled in the Master's Degree in Educational Leadership at National University.

In 2012, Mrs. Gonzalez accepted the Vice Principal position and worked in that role for three years before ultimately taking on the role as Principal of Wilcox High School in 2015.

 

Mrs. Luzon (Ms Silverman) Sara is from Southern California and graduated from Laguna Beach High School. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and an MAT in Teaching from the University of California, Irvine. She then spent a year at Queen Mary University of London studying English Literature.

Her first teaching job was for San Jose Unified School District at Henry T. Gunderson High School where she taught English and Yearbook for eight years.

Mrs. Luzon joined Santa Clara Unified in 2019 as an English Teacher at Santa Clara High School and spent a summer working as a Summer School Vice Principal after participating in the District's Leaders in Educational Administration Program (LEAP), where she earned her preliminary administrative services credential. 

In the fall of 2023, Sara joined Wilcox's Administrative Team, where she is overseeing Technology and Assessments among other various roles. 

Mrs. Luzon is excited to continue to work with Wilcox students, families and the community to ensure a successful experience for all.

 

Ms. MacDonald

Kathleen MacDonald is a product of the Santa Clara Unified School District.  She attended Fremont Elementary School, William A. Wilson Intermediate School, and Santa Clara High School.  Following her high school graduation, she attended San Jose State University earning her Bachelor of Arts and her Master of Arts Degrees in Business Education.

Kathleen completed her student teaching at Wilcox High School and began her teaching career as a Business Education teacher here at Wilcox High School.  She taught General Business, Typing I, Typing II, Accounting, Office Machines, Office Practice, and an AT&T Telephone Operator Course.  She served as the Department Chairman of the Business Department, the Commercial Club Advisor, and for 22 years as the Spirit Advisor.

In 1995, Kathleen began her dream job as the Vice Principal in charge of student activities at Wilcox High School.

Ms. Rothstein - Vice Principal

Stephanie Rothstein grew up in Southern California graduating from Mission Viejo High School. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts from UC Berkeley in 2002 and earned Teaching Credential (2004) and MA in Secondary Education (2005) from San Francisco State University.

In 2004 Stephanie began her teaching career at El Camino High School in South San Francisco where she taught English, Yearbook, and AVID and was the English Department Chair. In 2009 she began her 12 years at Los Gatos High School where she started, chaired, and taught in the LEAD pathway, a Design Thinking Pathway combining English, History, and Science. She also continued to teach Yearbook and Video Yearbook. Stephanie became a Teacher on Special Assignment for Los Gatos Saratoga Union High School District where she mentored/coached other teachers, and supported educational technology and professional learning. In 2021 Stephanie joined Santa Clara Unified School District as the EdTech/Innovation TOSA. During her time here in SCUSD, she has been proud to lead professional learning throughout the district, and lead the Innovation Cohorts, MakerSpace Cohorts, and Innovation Expo. 

One experience that changed Stephanie as an educator was being accepted as a Google for Education Innovator. In September 2019 she attended her Innovator Academy in Singapore with 35 educators from all over the world. After this experience she was inspired to continue her Educational Leadership path. Stephanie earned her preliminary administrative services credential in 2019 through the LEAP Educational Administration Program. In Summer 2022, she served as the Summer School Vice Principal here in SCUSD. 

In the fall of 2024, Stephanie joined Wilcox's Administrative Team, where she is overseeing Student Supports and Interventions among other various roles. Ms. Rothstein is happy to work with such a great admin team and wonderful staff and is happy to support students and families here at Wilcox High School.

Mr. Stieren

Michael Stieren grew up in San Mateo and graduated from Serra High School. In the fall of 1998 he moved to Central California to attend University of California Santa Barbara. He graduated from UCSB in 2003 with a dual Bachelor of Arts in English and Sociology. Two years later he returned to UCSB to attend the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education where he earned his Education Specialist Credential and Masters in Education.
 
In 2006, he began teaching in the Special Education department at Santa Barbara Junior High School. During his seven years at SBJHS Mr. Stieren served as a classroom teacher, department chair, Teacher on Special Assignment coordinating all Special Education for the school site, and an Assistant Principal. From there he moved to the district where he was a Coordinator for Special Education services. After four years at the district office he moved to San Marcos Senior High School where he was the Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction.
 
After 23 years in Santa Barbara, 17 spent working for the Santa Barbara Unified School District, Mr. Stieren decided to come home to the Bay Area / Peninsula. In the fall of 2021 Mr. Stieren joined the Wilcox Administrative Team and Santa Clara Unified School District.
