Honors and Advanced Placement

Advanced Placement (AP) classes are college-level courses with a curriculum standardized by College Board.

Honors classes (or Honors Placement classes) are advanced-level opportunities in an honors-designated class, or within a regular class, where a standard class curriculum is supplemented in order to give students who request an honors-level class additional academic challenges and assignments.

Students taking AP or Honors classes gain exposure to higher learning and experience in challenging themselves and testing their academic skills.

Things to Consider

When you are considering your Honors and AP selections, please remember that the UC System only accepts 8 semesters of weighted credits. In addition, please be mindful of other activities and commitments, as Honors and AP courses come with an increased time commitment.
