Overview

Typically Wilcox Stage Company, our theater group and Theater Productions Honors class,  produces two shows (one in the Fall and one in the Spring). Anyone is welcome to audition.

Audition Info

For auditions, we advertise prior to on the announcements, via social media etc., and then interested students fill out an audition form and prepare a 1-2 min monologue (or if we decide to do a musical, they prepare 1-2 mins of a song). Auditions are typically during 7th period and right after school.

Theater Courses

It is most common for students to take Theater 1 their Freshmen year, as that is the prerequisite for the Honors class, and it fulfills the fine arts requirement. They can then join Productions Honors their Sophomore or Junior year.

Festivals and Professional Theater Performance Opportunities for Theater Production Honors Students

Theater Productions Honors class members have the chance to compete in local Theater festivals, and attend professional theater performances in the Bay Area. In past years students have seen Hamilton at Broadway San Jose, and Moulin Rouge in San Francisco. Students have also participated in acting workshops with traveling Broadway performers.

The main Theater Festival we will compete in is the Lenaea Theater festival. More information on this opportunity can be found linked here: https://lenaea.org/

Students visited San Jose State to view a performance by the theater arts department.

Theater production honors students show off their tickets to the outdoor performance of The Agitators.

Hamilton at Broadway San Jose.

Students design, build and paint all set pieces for the school shows.
